Fortnite Season 3 is almost two weeks old, so most players have been able to work their way around the new locations on the map. We have some brand-new POIs along with several returning ones, meaning it’s time to analyze some of the best places to land.
For this review, we took a look at popularity, loot, location, and, finally, statistics from Novos. We didn’t rely on these statistics to completely inform our list, but it’s hard to deny that certain places offer players a better chance of winning their game.
We left two of the new POIs off of this map for different reasons. The Authority is the new Agency, which means it’s likely going to be the hottest place to land for the bulk of Season 3. Since this is the case, there’s always going to be a risk while landing here. You’ll get some good loot, but almost every game will involve a 50/50.
We left Fortilla off of the list because of its location and size. Finding Ocean and her Chug Jug can be a chore, along with looting the whole place and securing the vault. Once you’ve done that, you usually have to trek a long way to the next circle and spend almost all of your mid-game on the move. Both of these places are strong landing spots, but they aren’t in the top five – at least in terms of statistics, locations, and chances of surviving. Catty Corner is a different story, as you’ll see. Let’s get into the list.
5. Frenzy Farm
Our old friend, Frenzy Farm, remains one of the best places to land in the Fortnite Season 3 map. Apart from the water level and built-in Crash Pads, there’s very little that’s new about this POI. That’s one of the reasons that it’s the best spot to land – not as many people will contest you.
Frenzy used to be one of the hottest places on the map back in Chapter 2 Season 1. Since then, most of the attention has gone elsewhere, leaving the 19 chests that spawn here, nearly free. Frenzy is also located near the center of the map, making it a consistently short journey to the next circle.
4. The Yacht
We’re departing from the statistics, for a minute, to talk about one of the largest and most overlooked landing spot on the Season 3 map: The Yacht. The Yacht was one of the few POIs to get a chest upgrade in Season 3. The vault emptied out, but you can still find a chest and Supply Drop inside, guaranteeing you a Launch Pad.
The location is now larger, which means there’s more of a chance to loot-up before you have to fight. The zone is almost always far away, but there are plenty of Motorboats on the new Yacht, along with a Whirlpool to the West.
The overall placements from teams who land at The Yacht might not be the highest, but that could change in the future. We think that the rotation and amount of loot make it worthy of a top-five spot.
3. Sweaty Sands
Sweaty Sands is another location, like Frenzy Farm, that consistently proves itself to be among the best places to land – regardless of the size of the team or which mode you’re playing. There’s a whopping 36 chests in and around the area, and the lack of Season 3 changes has made it one of the lesser-contested landing spots in public matches.
What’s more, you usually don’t have to worry about other teams rotating to you once you clear the area. The Shark is underwater, for now, which means you can take your time and loot the whole area without worrying about a third-party engagement.
2. Catty Corner
Statistics are a fantastic way to analyze the best Fortnite landing spots, but they don’t tell the whole story. Catty Corner might be one of the most dangerous places to land on the Season 3 map, but it’s also home to some of the best loot in the game.
Surviving Catty Corner means leaving with the Impulse Launcher, Kit’s Charge Shotgun, vault loot, and any SMG you want. The problem is that this is a large POI with plenty of surrounding places to land. Winning a fight at Catty could mean that you’re safe for all of two minutes before another team rotates onto you.
Still, if you’re looking for some of the strongest loot in Fortnite Season 3, then Catty is your place. Land here if you want a fight, God-tier loot, and are confident in your skills.
1. Rickety Rig
The Rig was one of the casualties of the massive flood that hit the Season 3 map, but it didn’t go all the way under. In fact, this area is home to, arguably, the best landing spot on the map. There are several islands with plenty of loot, easy rotation in the form of boats and Whirlpools, and Slurp Barrels.
The reason that we put Rickety Rig at number 1 is because of the statistics. It’s consistently one of the top places to land by average placements – in both Arena and Pubs along with all team sizes. Winning this location also gives you a guaranteed Launch Pad in the opened vault – one of the only places to find such a treasure outside of the Mythic POIs. After that, you can wait for the Fortilla team to roll out for a chance at Ocean’s Chug Jug and Burst AR.
So, there you have it: the best named POIs in Fortnite Season 3. There are some better solo spots – to be sure – such as the boat that spawns randomly around the map. Most players know about this boat, now, and at least two or three opponents will land there in Arena matches.
We’ll have to see how the statistics change as the season continues but, for now, these are some of the best places to go if you’re looking to win.
