We recently reported on Sega’s upcoming new micro-console, the Astro City Mini which comes packed with 36 classic arcade games. Originally launched in 1993, the Astro City cabinet is still one of the most recognisable features in Japanese arcades, and is beloved by collectors.
Only a handful of Sega’s arcade classics have been confirmed so far:
- Alien Syndrome
- Alien Storm
- Golden Axe
- Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder
- Columns II
- Dark Edge
- Puzzle & Action: Tant-R
- Virtua Fighter
- Fantasy Zone
- Altered Beast
The Astro City Mini’s joystick uses microswitches, while HDMI-out on the rear means you can connect the device to your TV. There are two USB-A ports (for controllers) and a Micro USB port, as well as a headphone jack.
This micro-console is sure to be high in demand and will likely sell out very quickly. Amazon Japan pre-orders have now opened up with the Astro City Mini console priced at ￥14,080 yen ($128 / £102) and an additional controller priced at ￥3,058 yen ($28 / £22).
The release date for this is currently at the end of December 2020, and you can order them here:

There is no confirmation of a Western release of the micro-console yet, so pre-ordering direct from Japan might be your best bet.
